The partnership empowers Kazakh students to earn official ECTS credits and industry-recognized certifications in high-demand fields such as Data Science, Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, Engineering, and Finance. By bridging the gap between academic theory and practical skills, the initiative ensures graduates are prepared to thrive in the global digital economy.
Modernizing Higher Education Curricula
Through Coursera for Campus, students gain access to over 13,500 courses from more than 375 world-class institutions, including prestigious universities and innovative companies. These courses can be taken for credit, allowing learners to seamlessly integrate cutting-edge content into their degree programs. This approach supports the Ministry’s goal of modernizing Kazakhstan’s higher education system and making it more responsive to industry needs.
Driving AI Literacy at Scale
A central pillar of the renewed partnership is the AI-Sana initiative, which aims to equip all Kazakh graduates with foundational generative AI (GenAI) skills. Recognizing AI literacy as a critical competency for every student—regardless of their field—the initiative provides widespread access to introductory courses like Google AI Essentials and advanced content such as Building with the Claude API from Anthropic. With over 1,100 GenAI courses available on Coursera, the partnership ensures that students develop both technical expertise and an understanding of digital ethics.
Promoting the Kazakh Language in Online Education
To overcome language barriers and make quality education accessible to all, more than 4,000 courses—covering AI, data science, machine learning, and other priority topics—have been translated into Kazakh. This effort reflects the Ministry’s commitment to preserving and promoting the national language while ensuring that students can learn in their native tongue.

Since the initial partnership began in 2022, Coursera has served as a critical strategic partner for Kazakhstan’s higher education sector. Key achievements include:
